There is linearity here, but it is best to accept each section as an individual piece and then string them together in some way that grants a coherent whole.
As this will forever remain incomplete, perhaps see each sentence as a single journey, that and nothing more. On that note, not only will it stay perpetually unfinished, revisions will be regular, too. This is a perfect example of art emulating life; growing and changing affect the past and present, eventually affecting the future, a perpetual cycle.
This is, in some way, a continuation of my novella “The Elephant.” However, the metaphor of the elephant, which, as you probably have guessed, was the focal point of that story, is not the case here. Instead, the protagonist seeks to directly understand the loss of a loved one, a soulmate, while simultaneously grappling with his mortality.
Conceivably I have said too much; perhaps I have steered your thoughts in such a way so as to lead you down a particular path before you even begin reading.
However, I don’t believe so; I have revealed only partial hints – there is a lot to untangle if one chooses.
